Financing Your Plastic Surgery Procedure

Financing Your Plastic Surgery Procedure

According to the American Medical Association there were 17.5 million plastic surgery procedures performed in the United States. Plastic surgery can cost many thousands of dollars per procedure. As such, many patients opt for financing plastic surgery. With the popularity of plastic surgery steadily rising year after year their are many financing companies that have sprung up to help patients finance their plastic surgery procedure. Financing your plastic surgery procedure can be a daunting process. At Body Cosmetica we walk you through the process step by step. The following article is a quick guide to financing your plastic surgery procedure. However, if you contact us we are experts at getting patients approved and taking difficulty out of financing your plastic surgery procedure.

There are many providers available for financing your plastic surgery procedure. At Body Cosmetica we work with three primary financial providers. They are: Care Credit, Alpheon, and United Medical.

Care Credit:

Care credit is considered the gold standard when it comes to financing your plastic surgery procedure. They have been around the longest and they are a subsidiary of General Electric (GE). When it comes to financing your plastic surgery procedure, Care Credit is the most reliable and the quickest. Doctors tend to prefer to work with Care Credit above all other financing organizations. With care credit, you fill out your application online or in the doctors office, and you will learn whether you are approved in minutes. Care Credit, however, only approves those with a higher credit score – typically 680 and above. If you are approved for Care Credit, you will receive your Care Credit credit card in the mail within days. It can be used at any practice or provider that uses Care Credit. This means that your Care Credit card can be used at the dentists office, the vet, or with one of our plastic surgeon affiliates.

Alpheon:

Alpheon is a newer financial platform for financing your plastic surgery procedure. It is, however, very well respected within the industry. While it is accepted by fewer plastic surgeons than Care Credit, it is just as respected. Alpheon was started to compete with Care Credit. It specializes in financing plastic surgery. The upside to working with Alpheon is twofold. 1. Plastic Surgeons like it because the organization is more plastic surgeon friendly; and 2. In our experience patients tend to get larger loan amounts with Alpheon than with Care Credit. As such, if you are approved with Care Credit, you will most likely be approved with Alpehon. Also, if you are looking to finance a larger plastic surgery procedure that is north of $10,000 Alpheon may be the better provider for you.

United Medical Credit

If you are not approved with either Care Credit or Alpheon than you may want to try United Medical. Also, if you believe that your credit score is lower than 680, for example, then United Medical may be the appropriate financial provider for financing your plastic surgery procedure. United Medical is for patients with lower credit scores or what is commonly known within the industry as subprime. The application process is a bit more challenging – typically United Medical will require more information – but we, at Body Cosmetica, are experts at navigating the application process and obtaining approvals on behalf of patients. Typically United Medical will offer loans for patients who have a credit score of 560 and even less. This is a terrific option for patients looking to finance your plastic surgery procedure in part, and to repair your credit score. A typical loan from United Medical will be enough to pay for the lions share of your plastic surgery procedure. This is for patients looking to finance your plastic surgery procedure where the procedure is $10,000 or less.

Stacking Loans

Typically, financial providers do not like when a patient financing your plastic surgery procedure stacks loans. Stacking loans is when you use two or more providers to finance your plastic surgery procedure. For example, a loan from Care Credit and a loan from United used together to finance your plastic surgery procedure. While this is frowned upon by the providers there is nothing to stop a patient from doing so. In rare cases we will help patients stack loans in order to finance your plastic surgery procedure. This means that you will have two loans from two different financial providers instead of one.

Cosigners:

Just because you are rejected or turned down for a financial loan when financing your plastic surgery procedure does not mean all is lost. A good cosigner on your application can help you obtain an approval. A cosigner is a guarantor who is will to sign for the loan with you. Typically a cosigner is a family member or a friend with whom you have a financial relationship. It is very common for patients to have a cosigner when financing your plastic surgery procedure. We help patients with cosigners on their application everyday.
